History of Milton Community Resource Centre

MCRC is the amalgamation of two agencies in Milton: Milton Community and Information Services and Milton Children and Youth Centre . In 1998, the two agencies became one. At that time there were about 12 staff, an operating budget of $400,000 and 200 families.

In 2002, MCRC was selected to be the lead agency for the new Ontario government initiative- Ontario Early Years Centres. At that time the staff grew to 20, the operating budget  grew to  $1,500,000 and our membership grew to 700 families.

In 2003, MCRC expanded their school age programs to include Chris Hadfield Before and After School program and in 2005 Hawthorne Village School was added.

In 2006, MCRC expanded to the new Bronte Corporate  Centre at 400 Bronte Street in Milton. The building is 21,500 square feet which includes a Child Care Centre, Early Years programs, School age programs, Nursery School programs, Private Home Child Care Program and Family Resource Programs.

Poem for the future

May our spring gardens flourish

May love old and new develop

May children blossom

May each of us find a balance

Between work and play

May we be fulfilled by our work

And nurtured by our play

May we hold sacred the earth

And our bodies

We will mourn many times

Sorrow strengthens us

Sharpens our awareness of life

We rise each morning with joy

We stand in this doorway with hope
